Help and contact

Fitmeister is in internal testing, which means a small team and a short queue. Discord is the quickest route; email is always open for private questions.

Joining the internal test

Fitmeister has not launched. It is distributed through a Google Play internal testing track while we shake the bugs out, so you cannot find it by searching the Play Store — you need an invite.

  • Sign up on the home page using the Google account email that is signed in to the Play Store on your phone. Play can only invite that exact address.
  • Wait for the opt-in link. Invites go out in batches, so it may take a few days.
  • Accept, then install. Open the link, accept the invite, and the Play Store listing becomes visible to you. The first appearance can lag by a few minutes.

If the link says you are not a tester, you are almost certainly signed in to Play with a different account than the one you gave us. Email us the correct address and we will swap it.

Reporting a bug

Testing is the whole point of this phase, so please be blunt. What makes a report actionable:

  • What you did, step by step, and what you expected instead
  • Your phone model and Android version, e.g. “Pixel 8, Android 16”
  • The app version from Settings, e.g. “0.1.14-internal”
  • Roughly when it happened, so we can match it to a crash log
  • A screenshot or screen recording if the problem is visual
  • Whether it happens every time, or only sometimes and under what conditions

Please do not attach a full JSON backup unless we ask. It contains your entire training history, and we would rather not hold it if we do not need it.

Importing from Hevy or Strong

Export a CSV from your existing app, then pick it in Fitmeister under data management. The import previews what it found before committing anything, so you can back out.

  • Duplicates are skipped. Running the same import twice previews zero new workouts rather than doubling your history.
  • Set types are mapped explicitly, and notes and supersets carry across.
  • An unedited import can be undone from the import audit trail. Once you edit imported workouts, the undo is no longer offered, because reversing it would destroy your edits.
  • Rejected rows are reported, not silently dropped. If you see any, send us the count and we will look at the format.

Steps and Health Connect

Steps come from one of two places, and the app labels which. Health Connect aggregates data from your watch or phone and is the more accurate source; the on-device step counter gives you a live count during the day.

If steps look wrong or stuck, check that Health Connect is installed and that Fitmeister still has permission in Android settings. Aggressive battery optimisation on some manufacturers’ phones can also stop background counting — exempting Fitmeister usually fixes it.

Backups and restore

You can export two things: a lossless, schema-versioned JSON backup for restoring, and a readable CSV archive for reading in a spreadsheet. Both go wherever you choose through the Android file picker.

Restore validates the file before touching anything, takes a private safety backup of your current data, and then replaces the contents in a single transaction. It is a replace, not a merge — restoring a backup discards what is currently in the app.

Because the app is in testing, export regularly. It takes ten seconds and it is the difference between an annoying bug and a lost year of training.

Deleting your data

  • On your phone: uninstalling the app removes its local database. Clearing app storage does the same without uninstalling.
  • Your account: delete it from the app, or email us and we will remove the server-side copy within 30 days.
  • The tester list: ask us to remove your address and we will delete it, which also stops future invites.

Export a backup first if you want to keep anything. Deletion is permanent, which is rather the point. Full detail is in the privacy policy.

Pro and billing

Workout tracking is free. A paid Pro tier will cover server-backed features such as hosted AI coaching and cloud sync. Testers are not charged during the testing period.

When Pro launches, subscriptions are billed by Google Play, so cancellations and refunds run through your Google Play account. If Play declines a refund you think is fair, email us and we will take a look. See the terms of service for the detail.
